Shallow Water Flats Fishing on the Laguna Madre.

This is the main event in Arroyo City.  The Laguna Madre at the mouth of the Arroyo Colorado is justly famous for its superb flats fishing.   Game fish include, Speckled, and Sand Trout, Red, and Black Drum, Flounder, Sheep's Head, Skip Jack, Snook, and Tarpon.  Stalking big, tailing Redfish as they feed in the shallows is my favorite, but is not the only sport available to the Bay angler.  For the best in flats fishing contact one of our professional guides listed in the Business Directory.

Offshore Deep-Sea Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

Accessible from either Port Mansfield, just to the north, or Port Isabel to the south, the Gulf of Mexico has a wide variety of game fish including, King Mackerel, Bonito, Spanish Mackerel, Dorado, Wahoo, Amber Jack, Tuna, Sailfish, Marlin, and several species of Snapper, and Grouper.  For big game fishermen, this is just the ticket.

Night Fishing from Lighted Piers on the Arroyo Colorado.

Numerous piers line the Arroyo, and are a popular place to kick back and catch a few after the sun goes down.  All along the river, high power parking lot or aircraft lights begin to come on a couple of hours after dark in preparation for a little catch and release from the comfort of ones own pier.  The fish are not quite as large as can be caught out in the bay, but they are plentiful and the Specks and Sand Trout, that are usually the quarry, are strong fighters and a lot of fun.  The atmosphere is relaxed and you just can't find a more peaceful way to end the day.  See the Business Directory for your own private lighted pier.
